Every month, a team of unemployed ladies goes into Ryburg Terrace aged complex in Hanover Park to give the cottages there a thorough clean. There are no full-time cleaners employed at the facility, as the old people are expected to be self sufficient in every way. Heavy work, like washing mats or windows, cannot be done. That is where the Link of Love team steps in to spring clean.

In addition to the ongoing cleaning, December is always an exciting month at Ryburg Terrace. We usually host an end of year party at the Blomvlei School hall, but in 2015 it was time for a real outing for them and their helpers…to Kirstenbosch Gardens!

There was much joy as we dressed the old people in hats, wigs, glasses and more. After tea and scones, they could either sit and simply enjoy the magic of the gardens, or take a walk. All in all, a very special, heartwarming day—a  Link of Love  to remember.
