working for the unemployed

Port Shepstone – The Dream Begins

The seed for the Port Shepstone Branch was sown in May 2012 at an HRD workshop conducted by the Office of the Premier of KZN. The need for a ‘Job Centre’, where those looking for work could be assisted, was identified. Several meetings were held, where this matter was discussed by stakeholders in the region. This included the UGU District Municipality, the South Coast Chamber of Business, and the Esayidi FET College. A suggestion was made to use the DreamWorker model, and Ronald Bownes from the Cape Town head office was invited to join the discussions.

The DreamWorker model was subsequently accepted and on 5 March 2013 our office opened its doors on the Port Shepstone Campus of Esayidi FET College.

Many challenges have had to be overcome but we are now able to offer a lifeline to the needy, unemployed in the region. To date, hundreds of beneficiaries, who had previously lost hope of finding employment, have been registered and the numbers of those placed in positions of employment are growing week by week.

We are all so proud to be the “DreamTeam” Port Shepstone!
