Hanover Park – helping young and old

Athwood Students

Athwood shines sunshine bright!

All the schools in Hanover Park are wonderfully active with Link of Love in full flow!

At present we are supporting Crystal High School, Blomvlei Primary, Athwood Primary, Voorspoed Primary.

ATHWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL was absolutely delighted with their donation of yellow, printed T shirts from Dragon Sports. Headmaster, Rosdien Desai says “Well you can’t miss the kids from Athwood now at sports events. We shine golden yellow like the sunshine! Thank you to Dragon Sports.”

Help us fill these Voorspoed School Feeding pots!

VOORSPOED PRIMARY SCHOOL is using their funds to pay for Nicholas Williams to guard the school most evenings and weekends. But he is “man alone” and does the job mostly as a volunteer.

Sadly, the School Feeding room was broken into this term, despite a security gate. An extensive amount of canned and dry products was stolen and School Feeding cannot replace these till next month. About 600 – 700 children are fed per day so this is a serious loss!

BLOMVLEI PRIMARY SCHOOL is so grateful for the help from Link of Love. The school has many parents who don’t have money for school fees and in fact don’t have money for food! Blomvlei is wanting to put together as many food parcels as possible to help these parents.

RYBURG TERRACE AGED HOME is a hive of activity once a month, as windows are cleaned, carpets beaten and curtains washed. In fact, any job that would be physically demanding for an elderly person. A dedicated team of unemployed ladies moves in, encouraged by field worker, Amina Burger…..and leaves things  sparkling clean. Not to mention all the shared stories, laughs and general communal uplifting that happens between giver and receiver.

For Hannah Booysen and Joy Maggot it was “love at first sight”. Joy always looks forward to her monthly visit to help Hannah with ironing, sweeping and mopping the floors. They are a true link of love!
